I am excited to kick off my 10th year on a new adventure as a Kindergarten teacher! For the last 9 years I had the pleasure of teaching 2nd grade. Every year is an exciting year for me because I love meeting all my new students! As much as I enjoy teaching academics I also enjoy learning about each of my students' lives "outside of school."I make sure to incorporate time to share stories about each other throughout the school year as I believe this is an important part of building a trustful classroom community.
Let me start by telling you a little about myself!
I was born in Tel Aviv, Israel and moved here with my family in the hot summer of, 1995. I was six years old and did not speak English. I owe it to my elementary school teachers for being patient and so willing to help me transition to a new language and culture!
I have one older sister, Gal. She lives all the way in Israel! I have a younger brother, Eden who lives in Hoboken (yes, I am the middle child). I have a dog who turned 7 years old May 16th. Her name is Brixie. I like to call her my "fur" child as she is my non human baby! She goes to doggie daycare, she gets baths, and she even gets lots of toys and treats! However, there is one thing that I wish I could train her to do and that would be to sleep in her own bed! She loves sleeping in my bed right up against my legs, underneath the covers!
I graduated from Montclair State University with both my undergraduate and masters degree. My undergraduate degree is in Family and Child Studies with a concentration in Family and Children in the School Settings (K-6). I also minored in Psychology. I have my masters in Inclusion of Education with a concentration in Teachers of Students with Disabilities (K-6).I did my student teaching in Lowell Elementary School in Teaneck, New Jersey. I was assigned to a third grade classroom.
I've had the pleasure of working in a few different schools both private and public, being a paraprofessional for both students with disabilities and students who are non-disabled. The students that I have had the pleasure of working with ranged from preschool all the way to third grade. Previous to these opportunities, I substitute taught for many years while I was working on my Bachelors degree.
I look forward to a year of growth and development together!
See you in September!
